Educators use of Web 2.0 tools in the learning environment have shown potential in changing the way teachers teach the curriuculum and enhancing communication and culitvating a virtual environment allowing students opportunities to be creative and more accurately represent their learning. These tools allow educators to strengthen communication not only among teachers, but between students and the community in which they live and helping those students expand their learning beyond the brick and mortar of the traditional classroom.
Educators have been working to provide access to a plethora of content specific resources for their students. Many brick-and-mortar institutions are utilizing 1:1 initiatives and online programs and resources to enhance further educational opportunities for students. Online video and other web-based content is supplementing or even taking the place of text-based learning. Students have access to search capabilities well beyond the local library or school institution.
